Professional Learning at PAMM: Legacies and Reversals
In this professional learning workshop inspired by a selection of special exhibitions on view at Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), educators will trace the connections between the work of modern masters and renowned contemporary artists.
In part one, PAMM teaching artists will lead educators in dialogue using strategies that support visual literacy, critical thinking and inference-making, and creating personal connections to art objects. Educators will explore the visual languages of artists like Matisse, Klee, Picasso, Baldessari, and Basquiat. They will consider how contemporary artists at times draw from and make reversals on the legacies of modern masters. In part two, artists will lead educators in a hands-on artmaking session inspired by the artists’ use of symbols, gestures, images, and language.
